Vendor neutrality is not a binary. There are various levels on a spectrum from an application that leverages many vendor-specific services to an application which runs on any Linux machine in the world. Achieving complete vendor neutrality is almost never the goal. Instead, most companies interested in this topic are looking to reduce their dependencies where reasonable.
